Alive Festival 2009

Over the second May Bank Holiday weekend (23rd-25th May) in 2009 Revival Youth Congregation once again were part of “Alive”. This is a festival run by St John’s Church and followed a successful first year in 2008. Alive09, like Alive08, aimed to offer a strong emphasis on Word and Spirit, seeking to apply good practice in Charismatic ministry for the East Anglian setting. Revival hosted the Youth part of a wider festival catering for adults, children and young people.

For Alive09, Matt Levett was the main Bible speaker for the youth over the weekend. Matt, Youth Worker for the Forge Christian Fellowship, brings his own unique style to the sessions with laughter, interaction and thought provoking statements that encourage young people to focus on God in their daily lives.

The Youth Venue is open in the afternoons and there were some computer consoles available for the young people to chill out with as well as make friendships. Young people were also able to attend seminars that were part of the adult programme and there was also a seminar specifically for the youth available to them. On the Saturday, Kate Lumley ran a dance workshop, with the young people showing what they did in the evening celebration. On the Sunday, Drew Waller ran a seminar on telling your friends about Jesus and on the Monday Kat Collar ran a drama workshop, with the young people again showing what they did in the evening celebration.

In the evenings, there was a celebration for the youth. This allowed more time for worship songs and prayer ministry as well as inviting visiting speakers. On Saturday there was Mark Tuma from Youth for Christ in Norwich, on Sunday there was Drew Waller who is a Youth Worker from London and on Monday there was Kat Collar who was a member of Collective (East Anglia).

We were very fortunate to have good weather and enjoyed the opportunity to play outside in between the sessions.

Alive Festival will be running again in 2010 from Saturday 29th to Monday 31st May. We would love for you to book to come for the whole weekend, but you can also book for one or two days. It would be great to see you. Check out www.alivefestival.org for more information.
