The Noise 2010
Over the first May Bank Holiday (1-3 May), revival took part in 'The Noise' project. Initiated by Soul Survivor and other Christian organisations, it is a community based project designed to get young people taking church out onto the streets by engaging with social action projects. On the Saturday we did a litter sweep of Woodbridge, washed mobility scooters and cleaned off graffiti from the garages on the Peterhouse estate. Local residents commented that 'we were doing a good job' and 'it made the area look a lot nicer'.
On the Sunday, we gave out tea and cakes, which had been made by the young people and other members of the church, to people in the Library and Suffolk Place, a residential house in the area for the elderly. One of the young people commented, "It was nice, not only being able to give cake, but it was also nice that people listened to what we said and why we were doing it."
On the Monday we finished clearing a shed from a ladies garden to the tip, despite the weather, and later cleaned the woodwork in another ladies house. Both ladies said they were very grateful for our efforts. The young people really enjoyed the weekend, having the chance to interact with and help the community and do it alongside their friends.
