In September 2010 we again had a wonderful weekend at the Horstead Centre in Norfolk. This was the sixth year that we visited Horstead for a weekend of activities we wouldn't normally do, a time to knit together as a new group, having welcomed new members, and a time to learn more about God.
It's just a hour and a half from Woodbridge to Horstead. but by the time we get there we are ready for the tea that is provided by the Centre staff. After finding which rooms we are in and a brief time to unpack, we have the first of our discipleship sessions. In 2010 we looked at how we can all grow together within Cells and revival through creating community and all getting involved.
Saturday we have two of our activities - one in the morning and one in the afternoon. This year, we were split into two groups with one group having a go at the tower (a collection of rock climbing, abseiling and a zip-wire across the garden) and the other group having a go at Jacobs Ladder. In the afternoon, we all went down to the river for raft building and river crossing.
Later in the afternoon there was the second of our discipleship sessions. In the evening, there was some free time and the third discipleship session, which is always a reflective time and one of the favourites of the young people.
Sunday morning was our third activity time, a reversal of Saturday morning's activities, before lunch and our fourth and final discipleship session.

During the discipleship sessions this year we looked at our faith and trust in God. By looking through the Bible we can see God is a God in whom we can trust. We can find security in God. The first session is always a lead in session, where the topic for the week is introduced. The second session on Saturday afternoon is a time when we break into groups and find creative ways to express what we have learnt about the topic. This year some produced a sketch, others made drawings and paintings, some did a dance and a few managed to write a song. The last session on the Sunday afternoon is the time when we bring back to the whole group what we have produced on the Saturday. The Saturday night is always a more personal quite time when we move around to various stations where we are encouraged to think about things, read scripture verses, pray, etc.

What a great, cold, noisy, wet, joyful and funny weekend :D its lovely to see all these young people growing closer to God and encouraging each other .. Hannah ;) oh one more thing .... BANANA!!!!
As a leader, I have definitely felt more supported by the young people, rather than the one doing the supporting! It’s been great that everyone has mucked – yes, literally ‘mucked’ – in together. These young people really demonstrate what it is to live their lives totally the way that God teaches; and it is such a privilege to see it happening! – Kyle
I enjoyed it this year because the activities are unforgettable and I have grown closer to god-Katharine. xxx
I really enjoyed it, I`ve made lots of friends and it’s just an amazing experience. –Emily Smelly birds
It was great fun Jack Davies tipped a cup of water over himself at the top of the Jacobs ladder. He was holding it in his mouth when somebody pointed up and shouted “BIRD!” jack naturally looked up and the water dribbled all over him. A short while later somebody told him not to drop the cup because there was still a bit in there and he opened his mouth to say yes so it fell. – Miriam
It was lovely to see all the young people grow closer to God, over this weekend. The ‘Raft Building’ was a laugh especially the ‘bullet dive’. I think everyone has really enjoyed this weekend, as I know that I have. – Jo
The weekend has been a great opportunity to spend quality time with Christian friends and meeting God anew. It was scary, often painful and very cold at times but unexplainably fun. I don’t think that there was a single heart untouched by God’s awesome presence. – Tim
I have loved spending time with the whole youth group and really feel that as a whole we have grown closer. It has been yet another amazing weekend J - Sarah
Great weekend lads and ladies, great to have a bit of fun and banter within the group. Enjoyed the weekend, I’m glad I came, it’s been a great success, it’s been good to meet with everyone and spend some time with such a great bunch of Christian people like these. Ambidextrous lads!!
